Laveen Wrestlers did a fantastic job at the Western Regionals and US Open Tournaments this week. At the Jr level (17-19 year old) Tanner Borneman placed 6th and 3rd in Freestyle and Greco. There was only one other Az wrestler who placed in both styles at the Jr. level. Blake Wene took a silver medal in Folkstyle and finished 7th in Freestyle. Alex Jordan finished 5th in Greco. Isai Barajas and Jake Borneman wrestled in the tough 145 and 152 weight classes and won several matches. Schoolboy and Cadets also wrestled well. Billy Rasberry took 3rd in all 3 styles. Shawn Miller took home silver and bronze medals. Gavin Davis, Ethan Bigman, and Isaiah Gonzales wrestled hard and gained some great experience. Best of all, win or lose, these young men battled hard (see pics), and demonstrated great class and sportsmanship. Great work representing LWC on the national stage.
